New Orleans: My Big Easy Adventure

It’s been a couple of weeks since I returned from Nawlins and figured it was about time I give you an overview of my favourite things we saw/ate/did while we were there. Let’s get to it!

Because what’s a trip without food, amiright!? We tried all kinds of different foods, ranging from beignets to crawfish (okay, so I only had one crawfish and Melissa had 20, but who’s counting).

Because what’s a trip to The Big Easy without a stop at Cafe du Monde!?

Voted the best BBQ in NOLA! Voodoo BBQ!

District Donuts because yum.

This was our first stop after dropping our bags at our flat. It was also our last stop before leaving for the airport!

Bacchanal Wine had the cutest business plan. Grab a bottle of wine, a bucket and ice, and find a spot on their backyard patio!

We also loved The Swamp on Bourbon Street and Tropic Isle!

Our haunted tour (thanks Edward!) was one of my favourite things. It was so fascinating to learn about the ghost stories, voodoo, witchcraft, and vampires!

The Frenchman Street Market is a night market that houses some gorgeous local crafts and jewelry! Frenchman street is also where all the locals hang out.

While in Jackson Square, it was only fitting that we have a caricature done!

We also made sure to get an old fashion bayou tour and met this little guy along the way!

We stayed in the Garden District on Magazine Street at an Airbnb that was really adorable and full of southern charm.

The People

Not once did we feel unsafe walking the streets in New Orleans. The people were friendly, helpful, warm, and approachable. They were polite, and always greeted us with a cheerful ‘hey ya’ll’. Southern charm is a real thing.

I would absolutely go back to New Orleans. Have you been to The Big Easy? What would you recommend for next time? Let me know with a comment below!
