Holi Hai! The Spirit of Holi

As someone who has always been fascinated by cultures other than my own, I leapt at the opportunity to participate in London’s Holi Festival of Colours on April 16th. My good friend (and former roommate) accompanied me for lunch – the first patio of the season! – before heading to the festival.

Sangria is our go-to and shots seemed appropriate.

Holi is a Hindu spring festival know as the ‘festival of colours’ or ‘festival of sharing love.’ As the name suggests, it was a joyous celebration of spring, happiness, good fortune and love, with people throwing powder into the air, smearing it across one another’s faces, and basking in the atmosphere.

I was unapologetically covered from head to toe by the end.

The energy of the day completely radiated through all of the attendees! I was certainly in high spirits.

After hours of dancing, singing, smearing and throwing, my first Holi was over, and a complete success.

Not to mention I got some pretty stellar unicorn/mermaid hair out of it!
