First, I have to apologize for the fact that I’ve been MIA. I recently moved into my boyfriend’s house and we’ve been organizing and attempting to renovate and partake in some DIY home improvements. It’s been a huge task, but it means I’ve got A LOT of content coming your way! To start? Let’s focus on my room! AKA the first room I decided to tackle in the event it turned out poorly. Everyone needs a practice room, right?

First let’s start with the dramatic before and after picture. Then I’ll focus on some of my favourite things about my new space!

Amazing, right?!

I knew when planning out my new space that I wanted it to feel bright and lively. I didn’t want any dark colours or furniture. I wanted a space that instantly made me feel refreshed and awake when I woke up each morning. A space that felt modern and clean, yet showcased my love of rustic and shabby chic furniture perfectly.

Enter: Rose’s Shabby Chic Vanity from this post.

I needed a piece that could work as both a makeup vanity and a work station for any time I worked from home. This piece was beyond perfect and you can read more about its restoration in the link above.

Next: my pop-of-colour closet!

To make this transition extra easy, I just left the closet the colour of the room before. Voila! Now I get my pop of colour without having to do the work 😉 I love this little accent. It’s subtle enough because it’s hidden by clothes at the moment, but still a cute feature.

Lastly, my headboard and custom pillows!

When I told my parents I wanted to use an old door as a headboard, they were hesitant. But, we went to the Restore and found the perfect old door. With my dad’s help, we hung this beauty and it added the perfect ‘rustic’ vibe to my space. Not to mention it was super easy and cheap! Only $15 for this shabby beauty!

My wolf pillows were custom made by Eclectic Pillows and they accent my bed beautifully. I love the metallic gold and black and white chevron. Anyone who knows me knows that chevron is kind of my favourite thing of the moment. If you want to read more about Eclectic Pillows, check out their guest post on our blog, here!

Stay tuned for more home improvement posts! They’ll be coming your way very soon 🙂
