PURE 3 Day ‘Advanced’ Juice Cleanse!

Our friends over at Pure Juice Bar & Kitchen were kind enough to provide us with their 3 Day Advanced Juice Cleanse to try after a holiday filled with delicious (and fatty) foods and alcohol. It was very much needed. We, at The Wolf and The Wardrobe, are already huge fans of Pure (check out our last post reviewing their grain bowls, here, if you haven’t already), so when the opportunity came up to try their juice cleanse, I was really excited and eager!

I wasn’t quite sure what to expect with the juice cleanse, as I had heard of them frequently when I was modeling but never actually tried it myself. I was a little bit nervous because, let’s be honest, I love me some food, but my nervousness was outweighed by my excitement.

I showed up to collect my cleanse on a Wednesday morning (Pure creates all of the juices for their cleanse, so if you’re interested in doing one, be sure to call ahead and give a few days notice). Two large, white bags were filled with my juices for the next three days, and off I went!

While adding juice to your diet is a way of boosting nutrition and getting back into healthy basics, this particular cleanse takes it a step further by giving your digestive system a break and helping reduce your dependence on unhealthy, processed foods.

The 3 Day Advanced Juice Cleanse consists of six, 16-ounce drinks per day, with an additional booster shot each day. I was advised to drink the juices approximately two hours apart but to listen to my body if I felt it was too much or not enough in that amount of time. The juice is created to replace solid food and snacks, and during the cleanse you are to avoid alcohol, energy drinks, caffeine and nicotine for the full effects.

I was pleasantly surprised by how easy it was to incorporate the juices into my lifestyle. Though I found it a bit tricky initially with one of the very green juices (all veggies – no fruits), by the morning of the second day, my body was craving that particular juice. My favourite juices from the cleanse were definitely the Boost (a lemon and cayenne pepper drink) and the Vanilla Almond Milk, which were both particularly drool-worthy.

During the cleanse, I experienced a decrease in cravings, which was pretty awesome considering I wasn’t allowed to eat for three days anyways, an increase in energy, and (dare I say it?) radiant skin. I actually felt like I had a healthy glow happening.

If three days sounds like a long time to go without eating, I can assure you, you aren’t just sitting there twiddling your thumbs and wishing for the three days to pass so you can eat again. The juices do an amazing job of making up for the nutrients your body would normally be receiving from food and I didn’t even feel hungry. To be honest – I was probably getting more nutrients from the juices than I would normally get with the way I tend to eat!

I was almost sad when the juice cleanse ended. It was such a unique experience and so much more than I could’ve ever imagined. I will definitely be incorporating juice cleanses into my life to give my body a break and get the nutrients I need to thrive.

    Did you have any Side Effects while on your cleanse? I did a 28 day detox just over a year ago that was recommended by my naturopath and as my body was detoxifying I definitely had some withdrawl symptoms in the first 2 or 3 days until my body had adjusted. Nothing extreme – a slight headache from the lack of caffeine and sugar etc.
    Sounds like your cleanse was a great success though! It’s amazing how good our bodies can feel!

      Surprisingly no – I didn’t experience anything like that! Which is especially unique considering the fact I’m super prone to headaches and migraines. But I felt more alert and ‘with it’ than usual! 🙂
